Tog was perfectly happy in the cockpit – sitting very still, even when the rain came down, and very attentive to the waves around us. As long as the waves were high enough for us to see, it was just fine with him.

The third month of the trip. The weather is often very windy on the Pacific Northwest coast, and winds are generally down a bit here at Point Reyes.
Ahead of us, as we sail into the Bay, we can see several fishing boats, and at least one sailboat.
Butch is in a precarious situation, as the sailboat is very close to us.
We get the word that we are about 5 minutes from the lightship, and it is my job to drop our anchor (or better, the boat's anchor, as we have the main and mizzen up). I drop the mizzen to make sure the vessel is moving in the right direction, and quickly find that it is in the right direction, and I even find the mizzen and main hookup simultaneously.
Butch shows off his new Bay Bridge experience (it has been about 3 years since he last crossed the Bay Bridge) by riding the wind and waves, standing at the helm as the mizzen comes down. It is an amazing sight, and we are off again on another adventure.
Orca Cove, Sausalito, CA
We stop in at Orca Cove, an important site on our trip, as this is where the Marin County Seal Rescue Center has been for many years. It is a habitat for seals and sea lions, and is home to more than 300 seals and sea lions. The seal rescue is a volunteer effort, and it is essential that the young seals are fed at regular intervals, and thus there is a daily feed that we make sure to stop at.
To our surprise, several sea lions were hanging out on the dock, and really liked us.
The animals do not fear humans, as they are all accustomed to people. They would happily frolic in the water if we would let them.
